Responsive Ads for Display Network

Google has responded to a sudden increase in different usable screen sizes (across devices) with Responsive Ads for Display network.

The ability for image ads to reformat to fit different ad sizes and placements is a huge boon to advertisers. The diversity in mobile devices has been a trouble spot for some time as bounce rates rise when searchers are less likely to scroll to see more content.

Responsive ads also allow advertisers to provide an image that will appear in rich media ads and native ad formats. Previously, Google would automatically select an image from the client’s website and populate them on the display network, which didn’t always produce an ideal ad.

Responsive Ads for Display Specs

Much like the newly implemented Expanded Text Ads, Responsive Display ads have a new format. It features a shorter 25-character headline and a longer 90-character headline that will display when size allows. The new Responsive Display ads can include up to 205 characters of text and images. That’s even larger than the Expanded Text Ads and twice as large as the old text ads on the Display Network!

Creating Responsive Ads Is Easy

You can create these ads directly in the interface. Start by selecting the +AD button and then click Responsive Ads from the drop down menu.

From there you just follow the easy step-by-step prompts to enter the text you want to display. Don’t have an image? Google provides that solution easily by scanning your website and giving you options to choose from. Google will even provide previews of the various ads in the different sizes and formats it will display for you.

Compelling Ads

These new Responsive Ads will be a powerful tool for designing new display ads. Advertisers who are looking to be compelling and lead on the forefront on the display network will be pleased with the results. The ability to reach more people without having the cookie-cutter image means you can speak individually to a larger target demographic than ever before. With the combined reach of image and text ads on the display network, these responsive ads will certainly be a game changer for many advertisers!
